Exposing the truth about Bletchley Park
Three prestigious experts on Bletchley Park will come together in the Mansion on Sunday 14th October 2012, to explain what it was really like at the Home of the Codebreakers, what they actually did and how they helped to win the war.
The true Bletchley Park story is more incredible than fiction. But myths abound about the World War 2 codebreakers, thanks to the Ultra level of secrecy which shrouded their work for the next 30 years. Mystery still surrounds some aspects of the breathtaking success which was achieved at Bletchley Park, by the men and women who cracked the German Enigma code and decoded other seemingly unbreakable messages.
The Mythbusters event in the Mansion at Bletchley Park will be hosted by Michael Smith, number one bestselling author of The Secrets of Station X, the GCHQ Departmental Historian and former GCHQ Director, Sir Arthur Bonsall.
All three will talk throughout the day about the facts of Bletchley Park, exposing the myths. At 4.15pm there will be an open session during which questions can be put to the speakers. Journalists are welcome to attend, either the open session or the whole day.
