In addition to developing the basis of modern computing, Turing also considered the mathematics involved in the creation of natural patterns from the spirals in a sunflower to the stripes on a tiger’s tail.
On 23rd February 2012 Royal Mail will commemorate the centenary of Alan Turing’s birth with a new postage stamp. The stamp features the “Turing Bombe” rebuilt at Bletchley Park. 4 special envelopes will carry the stamp postmarked for its first day of issue using a facsimile of a Bombe rotor. These “first day covers” by Bletchley Park Post Office are very collectable due to their rarity and unique combinations of exclusive artwork and postmarks. Many become worth several times their original issue price.
As only 1000 will be issued early ordering is essential. Each cover is hand finished, individually numbered and bearing the official logos of Bletchley Park and the Alan Turing Year.
Order all four to receive them as a matched number set
