BLETCHLEY PARK CEO SPRINTS INTO ACTIONReleased : Feb 15, 2012 Iain Standen To Compete In Milton Keynes Marathon.
New CEO of the Bletchley Park Trust, Iain Standen, will be heading up “Team Turing” in the first ever Milton Keynes Marathon. He will be joining over 40 dedicated supporters who will be running in aid of Bletchley Park, raising vital funds. This will not be Iain’s first Marathon and he hopes to complete it somewhere close to three hours thirty minutes.Iain said “I am a keen runner so when I became aware of the MK Marathon I decided it would be a great way to start my time at Bletchley Park. I feel Bletchley Park is firmly on the path to becoming the world class heritage site it deserves to be and I want to demonstrate I am willing to put everything into making that happen. I am impressed that so many people of Milton Keynes are competing in this marathon in order to support local charities”. 2012 is the year we celebrate the Turing Centenary. Alan Turing achieved world-class Marathon standards. His best time of two hours, forty-six minutes, three seconds, was only eleven minutes slower than the winner in the 1948 Olympic Games. In a 1948 cross-country race he finished ahead of Tom Richards who was to win the silver medal in the Olympics. The Milton Keynes Marathon is being held on 29th April.
