Bletchley Park TourD Block![]() D Block housed extensions of Huts 3, 4, 6 and 8, which continued to be known by their hut names irrespective of their new location. Much of the intelligence planning and decoding for the Normandy invasion took place within these walls. D Block gives us an idea of how the now-demolished F block might have looked. Both were designed to look like hospitals, in the hope that this would make them less vulnerable to air raids. Indeed, Bletchley locals mistook them for asylums, a reputation no doubt encouraged by the high levels of eccentricity among the codebreaking fraternity! |
