Roll of Honour - Frequently Asked Questions
I believe that a relative worked at Bletchley Park, but they are not on the Roll of Honour. Do you have any information on them?
No. The Roll of Honour lists all World War 2 signals intelligence personnel of whom we are aware. We are very keen to hear about people who should be added to the Roll.
I know of someone who I think should be on the Roll, what should I do?
Please provide us with as much information as possible on the appropriate forms, available on our website.
I don’t have much information about a possible veteran, where else can I look?
If the person was in the Armed Forces, next of kin can request a summary of their service from the Veterans’ Agency. This will usually help clarify whether there was a link with Bletchley Park. The Veterans’ Agency can be contacted on 0800 169 22 77 or at www.veterans-uk.info/ .
But the person I’m thinking of was a civilian. Is there anywhere else to look?
Unfortunately there is no equivalent of the Veterans’ Agency for civilian personnel at Bletchley Park. Try and find any papers the person may have kept, these sometimes shed light on their wartime service.
Can I find out more from your archives about what someone on the Roll of Honour did?
We do not have detailed information about what an individual did. Try looking at the Veterans’ Memories on our website to see accounts by people in the same hut, section, location or unit. The many books about Bletchley Park published in recent years may also help in giving an idea of the work in which someone was involved.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE NO INFORMATION ON ANYONE WHOSE NAME IS NOT LISTED.
